Client
Our client is proud to be one of the UK’s leading heavy civil engineering and specialist construction contractors looking to build upon their history and reputation of quality workmanship and timely project completion.
Due to continued and sustained growth, and the realization of an ambitious expansion strategy our client is now looking to appoint an individual to the main board as Group Commercial Director
The Role
-
To oversee and manage all commercial and contractual functions, teams and matters pertaining to the operational activities of the entire UK operation, including (but not limited to); client interfacing / leadership, all commercial activities, claims avoidance, pre-tender advice, and legal and statutory undertakings

To directly control the portfolio commercial function including all team members, commercial reporting and recruiting

Lead the commercial teams in regards to legal, commercial, contractual and insurance matters, ensuring that the appropriately selected robust systems are devised, developed and implemented

Report on the financial performance of all projects, divisions, regions and business units to the main board and CEO

Proactively manage all commercial staff, ensuring deadlines are achieved and accurate financial management of all projects via relevant commercial individuals
The Person
-
To have a proven track record in commercial leadership and management from within a recognised civil engineering, infrastructure or construction contractor.

Can demonstrate a minimum of 10 years’ experience of a wide variety of projects operating at a senior commercial level, and be familiar with most forms of contracts

To have a good understanding of commercial input / advice / control to the pre-qualification process, including work winning / bid management and client presentations

To have experience of claims avoidance able to identify situations and circumvent conflict

To have well rounded industry knowledge, with exposure to general commercial leadership and management
