Role                       Group Sales & Commercial Director

Location               Midlands

Salary                    £100,000 to £130,000 plus bonus and company package

Opportunity

Our client is a major engineering contractor and a leading brand in their market. We are looking for a proven Sales Director with commercial experience. The role is to lead the work winning and commercial team; ensure Sales and bidding excellence, improve conversion rates and reduction in risk through effective front end sales management. The role also holds commercial responsibilities such as leading the estimating team and commercially negotiating contracts to mitigate risks.

Key Deliverables

• Lead the UK Sales team to ensure greater sales success, ensuring clear lines of communication and responsibilities.

• Engage at a higher level with customers and develop key senior business relationships.

• Responsible for the estimating department to ensure all bids are commercially consistent.

• Ensure technical and commercial solutions and tenders are aligned before submission.

• Ensure all required reporting and historical data analysis is captured, including bid/ no bid

• Oversee projects from conception, feasibility, prequalification, tender and both precontract and contract stages - ensuring common understanding of project objectives, procurement strategies and contractual obligations.

Skills & Experience

• Experienced construction professional with a successful background in leading Commercial and Sales teams and winning construction projects.

• Thorough understanding of procurement strategies and forms of contract.

• A high level of commercial experience.

• A capable and confident communicator with excellent previous sales record.

• Able to lead and enthuse, motivate and influence business change including individuals and levels outside of direct reporting lines.

• Proactive individual wanting to play a crucial role in a new management team and seeks satisfaction through quality and achievement.

• High level of attention to detail; leaves nothing to chance

• A recognised constructional related qualification is desirable.
