We require an Interim Waste Contracts Manager to cover up to 9 month secondment of a permanent team member. You will have responsibility for managing the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) service and contracts dealing with service issues, customer complaints, compliance issues, health and safety and contract management processes. Additionally, you will manage the street sweeping treatment contract and liaise with district and city councils over all waste disposal services to ensure smooth operations.
You will also undertake contract re-procurements including for the street sweeping processing contract and the clinical waste service that will include all aspects of procurement including service review, soft market testing, developing tender documentation in conjunction with a procurement officer, following the tender process through to award and mobilisation.
For suitable candidates, closed landfill management will also be included in the role. The council contracts a closed landfill management contractor who makes recommendations to the council in respect of 10 closed landfills. The post holder will be responsible for following up on the recommendations to ensure the landfills are properly maintained and compliant.
Candidates will need to have good knowledge and experience of local authority waste management contracts, procurements and duties. The office base is Oxford however flexible working would be considered once the individual is embedded in the role.
